Texas Rangers should sign free agent Roy Oswalt
I know Roy Oswalt didn’t pitch well while with the Texas Rangers during the 2012 season, but I think it would be a great idea for the Rangers to bring him back for 2013. The Rangers are in need of some arms, and Oswalt’s veteran experience might be great for this young Rangers rotation.
Oswalt has been on winning teams before like the Houston Astros in the mid 2000’s when they were actually considered a team. Sadly, he joined the Philadelphia Phillies a year too late when he started with them in 2010.
To be a contender, the Rangers will need to get someone to physically, mentally and emotionally lead their rotation. Oswalt would fit all those qualities, and would bring this Rangers team to the point of having a legitimate chance in the new super-powered American League West.
All of the teams in the AL West have been upgraded this off-season and will be very tough to beat. The Rangers need to sign Oswalt and/or bring in a top of the line starter to lead the rotation because the Rangers do not have a legitimate ace.
The leader of the rotation right now is either Yu Darvish or Matt Harrison, neither of whom are anywhere near being considered as some of the best in the league.
The Rangers need to make some type of move for pitching, and signing Oswalt might just be that move.
