Possibly the best overall free agent pitcher previously on the market, Kyle Lohse, has finally found the team he will spend the next few years with. He and agent Scott Boras announced a three year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. I like the deal for both sides but mainly it has a huge impact on the Brewers. Lohse instantly makes them a better team. He has it all and the Brewers can instantly plug him in, after he gets ready physically, and be close to being World Series contenders.
This is a veteran pitcher that knows how to pitch. He throws strikes and has great command of the ball. Not only does he know how to get outs but gets them regularly. I won’t put his name on the Cy-Young ballot just yet but Lohse is exactly the kind of pitcher that improves a team. He pitches a ton of innings every single year and gives his team a chance to win each time out.
His veteran experience will be valuable on the Brewers squad as well. Almost everything about this deal seems to work well for both sides and especially the Brewers. I don’t know how well Lohse will be prepared to start the season since he has had no MLB team to pitch for but whenever he is ready to go, and he should definitely wait until completely ready, the Brewers will become even better and possibly a team to beat in the National League Central division.
