Toronto Blue Jays Fans Excited To Welcome Back John Farrell
John Farrell will make his long awaited return to the Rogers Centre on Friday as the Boston Red Sox kick off a three game set with the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend. The laid back better bring some ear plugs because I have a sneaking suspicion this will be the loudest “Johnny Boy” will have ever heard the Rogers Centre.
To refresh your memory Farrell abandoned the last year on his contract forcing the Jays hand to trade him back to Boston so he could pursue his “Dream Job”. The Jays managed to deal Farrell for utility infielder Mike Aviles who they later flipped to the Cleveland Indians for reliever Esmil Rogers. After the Manager’s departure, the Blue Jays pulled the trigger on a number of deals improving the squad greatly.
Farrell will be public enemy #1 come Friday as a near capacity crowd will be frothing at the mouth to greet Farrell with a loud chorus of boos. The manner in which Farrell left the team has not sat well with the Blue Jays fan base that have had an entire winter to fester over it. Fans will be out in droves to give Farrell the rude welcome he so deserves.
If the Jays manage to pull off a sweep against Farrell and company, fans may blow the roof off the concrete convertible. So buckle your seat belts folks, it’s going to be a great weekend of baseball north of the border.
