Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Series Preview
Diamondbacks Return to Chase Field After 5-1 Start
The Arizona Diamondbacks started the 2013 MLB season with three games at home and another three on the road. Arizona has gone 5-1 in their first six games, and they are tied for first place in the National League West division with the Colorado Rockies.
They just completed a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on Sunday, and have won four games in a row. Arizona now returns home to start a six-game home stand against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The probable pitchers for the upcoming series against the Pirates include Trevor Cahill, Brandon McCarthy and Wade Miley. The Diamondbacks will face a Pirates club that has been struggling to score runs in the early part of the season. The Pirates have just managed to score a total of eight runs in six games, and they have lost four games in a row.
Both of these teams enter this series streaking in opposite directions. The Diamondbacks have won four straight games, while the Pirates have lost four straight games. While the Diamondbacks have scored 37 runs in their first six games, the Pirates have given up 16 runs in their first six games.
The Diamondbacks have yet to lose a series this season, but they should not overlook the Pirates. The Diamondbacks have a crucial three game series against Dodgers after this set. The following slideshow is a preview of what to expect in the Diamondbacks vs. Pirates series.

Pitching Match up No.1
Trevor Cahill pitched well in his first start, but had a problem repeating his mechanics toward the end of the start.
The Diamondbacks will face Pirates starter Wandy Rodriguez in the first game of the series, and they have had success against him by defeating him six times.
Pitching Match up No.2
Brandon McCarthy struggled with his command in first start, and will look to improve in his second start with the Diamondbacks.
Arizona will be facing James McDonald in the second game of the series, and have hit him well in the seven career games they have faced him. McDonald has pitched 15 innings versus the Diamondbacks, and has surrendered three home runs to go along with a 5.28 ERA.
Pitching Match up No.3
Wade Miley pitched great for Arizona in his first start of the season, and he looks to do the same in his second.
In the finale of the series, Arizona will face Pirates starter Jonathan Sanchez, and the Diamondbacks have done well in facing him. Arizona has 20 career games against Sanchez, and in those games they have hit 15 home runs against him.
Key Diamondbacks Player No.1
The Diamondbacks have two key players that are crucial for them to continue their success, and one of them is Gerardo Parra. Parra has been great for Arizona being the leadoff hitter, and has set the table for other players to drive him in.
Key Diamondbacks Player No.2
The second key player for Arizona in this series is Martin Prado. Prado has been excellent in first week with the Diamondbacks. He has provided Arizona with versatility by being able to play multiple positions, and has done a great job being the No. 2 hitter in the line up.
