When they lost their first game of the season, many probably thought this was just going to be the start of another mediocre year in Colorado Rockies world. Maybe the year won’t be great but if the five game winning streak they are riding in to face the San Francisco Giants says anything about it, the Rockies might surprise a few more before it’s done. This will be a big test. No disrespect to the teams they have beaten so far at their home ballpark but facing the Champs in their home in San Francisco is certainly a test for where the team stacks up.
They will have to deal with normal air for a change though the way Dexter Fowler is hitting the ball; it wouldn’t matter where they played. It isn’t all that complicated really. The Rockies are hitting well and pitching well. That will win you more games than it will lose. Do it well enough and you have yourself a winning streak. That is what they have going right now and it looks good on them and their new manager Walt Weiss.
Whether or not they can get things taken care of in the Giants home stadium will be interesting to watch. The Giants had a great showing against the Los Angeles Dodgers but showed a few cracks against the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. This is the kind of team in the Rockies that will expose a weakness or two if you have one. They are fighters. No one told them they aren’t supposed to be sitting on top of the National League West and they seem to like it there. Who can blame them?
