Detroit Tigers Scoring Runs without Slugging Home-Runs
There should never be anyone betting against the Detroit Tigers for getting to and even winning the World Series. Their pitching is great to solid, led by Justin Verlander who is probably the best pitcher in all of Major League Baseball. They also have great power hitting led by Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, two of the best home-run hitters in all of Major League Baseball. This young season they find themselves mired in a struggle one game from the division lead in the American League Central.
The struggle that has been there for the Tigers so far this season isn’t really anything major. It has just been one of those situations where they run into a hot team here or a great pitcher there. In the midst of the gaggle of teams in the AL Central, the Tigers have still shown yet another reason why they are so dangerous. As good as they have produced this season; they have done so without the homers.
Fielder leads the team with two and Cabrera only has one. Even though that is so, the guys getting on base in front of them are getting knocked in just the same. Both of the sluggers have still driven in at least ten runs each going into Wednesday’s game. Whoever gains early control of the division should be very wary of the Tigers. They are treading water pretty well right now without their long balls. It won’t be long before Fielder and Cabrera are sending tons of them out of the yard. Then, obviously the Tigers will be even better.
