St. Louis Cardinals Riding a Wave of Momentum Straight to Kyle Lohse
The last time the St. Louis Cardinals saw Kyle Lohse he was on the losing end of game seven of the National League Championship Series. Now, after the Cardinals did not offer him much and he searched all winter and basically all spring for a new team, the two come together once again. This time Lohse will toe the other side of the pitching rubber however, for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Just the fact that Lohse wound up with a divisional rival of his former team is enough to make this interesting but from the Cardinals point of view it gets even better. The man they are sending to face their former friend is rookie starter Shelby Miller. Miller recorded his first win the last time out and looked pretty good going into the sixth inning and looks to be a good sense replacement for Lohse. For his part, Lohse didn’t even have a chance to get ready for the year and threw a great game his first time out.
What will be the result of this match-up? The Cardinals are riding a huge wave of momentum after dealing a series defeat to the powerful Cincinnati Reds. Their bats have come alive and their pitching is looking better. Even the bullpen is pulling things together after they realized they pretty surely weren’t getting their closer back.
Things are being made new in St. Louis and the Cardinals seem to be much better off because of it. The sting of what could have been might be a stern motivator for Lohse want to prove to his former team what they gave up. Lohse will be the one with the tough task on this night though. It should be fun to watch.
