Milwaukee Brewers’ Alex Gonzalez Returns to Lineup

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Alex Gonzalez will return to the starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night after missing the last two games with a bruised hand.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Shelby Miller lost control of one of his pitches in the second inning of Friday night’s contest and hit Gonzalez directly in the hand. Gonzalez stayed in the game to field his position in the bottom of the second, but was removed after he could not swing properly in the clubhouse batting cage.

The Brewers certainly missed the 36-year-old in the lineup Saturday and Sunday as the 14-year veteran is a rock for the team on the field. He certainly is not off the same hot start when he began the season last year as he is currently batting .138 in 29 at-bats, but his defensive skills are why Milwaukee needs him in the lineup.

Hopefully, the Venezuela native will be able to consistently remain healthy after Tuesday, as the Brewers cannot afford to lose any more players for a significant amount of time.

The Brew Crew currently has five players on the 15-day disabled list and one on the 60-day disabled list. Corey Hart and Aramis Ramirez are the two big names that need to return to the lineup as soon as possible to give the team some much needed offense.

The following is Milwaukee’s lineup in the first game of the series against San Francisco:

Right Field: Norichika Aoki
Shortstop: Jean Segura
Left Field: Ryan Braun
Second Base: Rickie Weeks
Catcher: Jonathan Lucroy
Third Base: Alex Gonzalez
Center Field: Carlos Gomez
First Base: Yuniesky Betancourt
Pitcher: Wily Peralta
