Arizona Diamondbacks Can Rely on Paul Goldschmidt and Martin Prado
Although the Arizona Diamondbacks have not been one of the top teams so far in Major League Baseball, they are developing into a team that has the ability to compete with anyone. In order to be able to hold their own with any opponent, I believe a team needs solid pitchers to trust with the ball and reliable hitters that come ready to play their best on a daily basis. The Diamondbacks have the offensive side of that in first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and third baseman Martin Prado.
Goldschmidt leads the team with a .333 average. He also has 3 homers, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored. It was apparent in spring training that Goldschmidt was primed for a productive season. Considering the contract he was handed before the season, the Diamondbacks clearly thought so as well. He has not disappointed in the least.
Alongside him stands team newcomer Prado. Prado’s average is still below the .250 mark but that isn’t where you look for his production. He also has 3 homers and has scored 13 runs but that isn’t the only place to look either. Prado has had countless great at-bats this season because that is what he does. He goes out and has great at-bats which helps the entire team.
Together Goldschmidt and Prado lead the offense of the Diamondbacks. If they can get consistent reliable pitching from Ian Kennedy and at least a couple of others, the Dbacks will start moving further up the rankings in the NL West, I guarantee it. They appear close. I’m not saying they’re bound for a playoff spot but they certain have almost all the need to fight for one.
