Kansas City Royals Have Ridden Hot Streak to Sole Possession of First Place
Much of the Kansas City Royals team is fairly similar to last year’s team. The part of the team they spent so much money on was the pitching staff. Bringing over Wade Davis alone has paid plenty of dividends much less adding the other guys in. The short version of this story is this. The Royals upgraded the right part of their team and now they are the leaders of the American League Central division because of it.
The Atlanta Braves seemed like the best team in the majors for a while. Davis ended that winning streak with a masterful pitching performance. There have been a lot of those over the past few weeks for the Royals fans to enjoy. Now they are about to take on a Detroit Tigers team that is powerful but on a losing skid. Teams like that can be more dangerous than the powerful ones that are not on a losing skid. Still, the Royals didn’t stress too much over the Braves when Davis was on the mound so who is to say they will stress much over the Tigers?
I don’t mean to say the games will be easy. They surely will not be easy at all but the close though games are the ones that the Royals are winning a ton of. That hot streak has indeed led them to the top of the AL central division. It is way early but the rest of the teams are so closely bunched that if the Royals were to put some space between themselves and the rest of the pack, they might very well pad a little bit of a lead to fall back on when they hit a losing skid. That is how a team can stay in front for most of the season. Pitching is the key and they most certainly have plenty of it.
