Who is Most Consistent Player for Milwaukee Brewers During Win Streak

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently on a seven-game win streak after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in a comeback win and then sweeping the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs in back-to-back series. Obviously, many players are contributing over the seven-game span in order for the Brewers to have success. However, who has been the most consistent during the win streak?

I would like to give the honor to just one person, but it is too hard to decide between two players. Center fielder Carlos Gomez and catcher Jonathan Lucroy have both been on fire at the plate over the last week. They have also both been exceptional fielding their positions.

Gomez has posted a whopping .522 batting average with two home runs, three RBI, one triple, one stolen base and six runs in 23 at-bats. The 27-year-old has come up big in almost every game, including recording three hits in each of the first three games of the win streak. However, his biggest contribution is most likely the first game of the series against the Cubs. His solo home run in the seventh inning ended up being the difference in the game that gave the Brewers the victory.

Meanwhile, Lucroy is batting .375 with three home runs, seven RBI, one triple and five runs in 24 at-bats. The 26-year-old has suited up for six of the seven games, while backup catcher Martin Maldonado got the start in Sunday’s series finale against Chicago. Lucroy has recorded a few clutch hits over the win streak, but one of his biggest plays occurred behind the plate. He threw out pinch runner Julio Borbon to give Milwaukee the win on Friday.

After beginning the season in a major slump, Lucroy has clearly got hot at the plate. Considering he missed part of Spring Training because of the World Baseball Classic, it is understandable why it has taken some time to get going. The good news is he is collecting hits and home runs at a rapid pace.

Hopefully, the Brewers will be able to keep the streak alive when they take on the San Diego Padres Monday night.
