Texas Rangers Need To Hold Off Streaking Los Angeles Angels Now If They Want To Win The American League West
Both of these teams are coming off of sweeps but the teams they swept are very different talent wise. The Rangers just finished up a sweep of the struggling Seattle Mariners who have scored the least runs in all of baseball. Including the Houston Astros.
On the other hand, the Angles just swept the Detroit Tigers who are on the opposite end of the spectrum from the Mariners. They have scored the most runs in the league. The Tigers easily have one of the best lineups in baseball anchored by Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson who has been surprising good thus far.
This article is coming in to late to preview the first game that features Derek Holland and Joe Blanton but without knowing the score I would say the Angels should win that game. I say that due to the stacked right-handed hitters in the Angels lineup such as Albert Pujols, Mark Trumbo and of course Mike Trout.
The second game will have a pitching matchup of Alexi Ogando versus Jason Vargas. I am an avid Mariner fan and have seen Vargas over the last few seasons. As a fan, I know that Vargas has a series problem with giving up home runs. He gives up a lot. I see the Rangers winning in game two with the lineup going off against a struggling Vargas.
That leaves the last game to determine a winner. As of right now, the Angels have not announced a starter. I believe it will be either Tommy Hanson or Garret Richards against Yu Darvish. Darvish has been fantastic this season and I see the Rangers handling this game easy.
The Angels have been very hot and are closing in on the Rangers in the American League West. This series could have a huge effect on how this division turns out in the end.
