Yu Darvish Proves Why He is Texas Rangers Ace

Yu Darvish Texas Rangers

On Wednesday night the Texas Rangers made sure they didn’t need to come from behind against the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim. In the first two games of the series, the Rangers had to come from behind to try and win the game. On Monday, they were successful thanks to an A. J. Pierzynski home run in the ninth inning. Tuesday was a different story, however. Texas battled back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game. However, they would eventually lose it in the 11th inning.

Wednesday, though, they gave the ball to their ace pitcher Yu Darvish and he would make sure there was no comeback needed. Yu pitched brilliantly for the Rangers as he went six innings and had 11 strikeouts and only gave up three hits. Darvish did get some help from his offense in the 11-3 win over the Angels. Aided by a nine run third inning, the Rangers made sure Darvish would get his fourth win of the young season.

Yu started off the 2013 season with a bang as he came one out away from pitching a perfect game against the Houston Astros. Darvish is 4-1 with a 1.65 ERA. If there was any doubt before the season who the Rangers number one pitcher would be, those doubts have been erased. This is the second time Yu has defeated the Angels and the third time this season he’s had double-digit strike outs. The Rangers leave Los Angeles and head to Minnesota with a 1.5 game lead over the Oakland Athletics and a 5.5 game lead over the Angels.
