This season certainly hasn’t gone the way the Philadelphia Phillies have wanted it to so far as Roy Halladay was recently placed on the DL, but there is a surprise star quickly rising on the rotation in Kyle Kendrick.
The Phillies pitcher has received a few opportunities over the years to prove himself, but Kendrick has been phenomenal for Philadelphia this year and is coming off another impressive win against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night in the team’s 6-2 win. Not only did Kendrick receive some help from the bats on offense, but he pitched a solid seven innings while only allowing two errors on six hits and striking out six batters.
With the win, Kendrick improved to 4-1 on the year–giving the Phillies hope with their rotation for the rest of the season.
There’s been plenty of concern as far as whether or not Philadelphia’s starting pitchers were hitting the end of their careers considering it’s no secret age is becoming a factor for some of them. When it comes to Kendrick, he could end up playing a big factor when it comes to this team keeping up with the rest of the contenders in the NL East.
Kendrick has looked sharp for the Phillies so far and after another strong performance on Tuesday against the Giants–let’s hope the star pitcher continues to dominate his opponents over the course of the regular season to keep Philadelphia in the hunt.
