I have heard of a little letdown after a big win but what has happened to the Miami Marlins seems insane. I recently did an article that showed how they were nearly playing .500 ball over the last few weeks up until the big 14 runs they scored on Sunday. The ensuing series with the San Diego Padres was disastrous for the Marlins and they don’t seem to be improving a whole lot with the current Los Angeles Dodgers series.
It seems to be unreal but the Marlins went from scoring 14 runs last Sunday to having as of now scored only 1 run all week long. Chances are if they had put together a few runs here and there they certainly could have won at least one of the Padres games. Mike Redmond and staff are doing all they can shifting people around and calling up others but some of it just comes down to the players. What began as a lack of consistency has turned into consistent nothing.
How long this continues could put a huge damper on any possible forward momentum. Already they have lost what momentum they had and basically have to start over from scratch. The big run output and series win of a week ago is a distant memory. Can they overcome this offensive struggle to win a game or two against the Dodgers? It is possible and actually more probably at this point to beat the Dodgers than the Padres considering all things.
