St. Louis Cardinals’ Yadier Molina is National League’s Best Catcher

By David Miller

Most of you reading this probably know that the St. Louis Cardinals have the best record in Major League Baseball. It isn’t a fluke or because of a long winning streak or anything like that. They have earned each and every win they have claimed and they continue to do so. Theirs isn’t the best offense in the big leagues but they get the job done with the bat when the time calls for it. They do in fact have the best pitching staff in the National League in my opinion and statistically as well in most areas. One man is a key factor in all of this for this team. His name is Yadier Molina.

Molina is a class act and bar none one of the best catchers in the game of baseball. I think he is the best catcher in the NL without a doubt. Yes that includes the San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey. I love the way Molina takes great pride in not only his offensive contribution but also in the calling of the game for his pitchers. Manager of the Cards Mike Matheny knows a thing or two about catching since he was a great one himself. He agrees that Molina is the best at what he does all around.

Defensively you better not run on Molina unless you read the pitcher very well. He is quick out of the crouch and has a strong accurate arm. Offensively he is just batting .353 with 32 RBI and 28 runs scored. Of his 83 hits, 25 have been for extra bases including his 4 round-trippers. I mean to tell you that this man is impossible to beat at the position of catcher in MLB. Posey comes close without a doubt but given a choice between the two I would give a tip of the cap to Posey and chose Molina every single time.
