Los Angeles Angels Looking Pretty Good for Seattle Mariners Series

The Los Angeles Angels are not the hottest team in all of Major League Baseball right now but they have played pretty well. The same is true of the Seattle Mariners who go into the two team’s showdown this week with the smallest of margins over the Angels for third place. As the two prepare to battle for the right to hope they can catch the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers the Angels rotation is shaping up pretty well.

For the opening game the Angels have Jason Vargas going. Vargas is just a few games removed from a streak that saw him win five of six starts. His last start wasn’t a winner versus the Baltimore Orioles but winning has been a pretty good habit of his this season considering the tough luck the team has had. The third and fourth games look pretty promising as well with C.J. Wilson going in one followed by Tommy Hanson in the final game.

Wilson won his last start by giving up only 2 runs over seven innings. Hanson has looked much better of late putting up 2 consecutive wins where he gave up only 2 runs per start. The only starter the Angels have going that has not pitched well lately is Joe Blanton and his start might be a problem for the Angels. All in all the Angels have to feel good about their recent play and their chances in this series but then again the Mariners probably feel the same way. We’ll have to watch and see.
