Playing good or not the Minnesota Twins will Struggle vs Indians

Coming into the series with the Cleveland Indians the Minnesota Twins were winners of three in a row and four of their last five games. Dating back to the Detroit Tigers series and certainly on through the sweep of the Chicago White Sox the Twins have played great baseball of late. None of that mattered as soon as the Indians series started however. The Twins struggled in the first game and lost 5 – 1. That might be a telling sign of things to come for this series.

For some reason the Tribe lost eight in a row not long ago but since then they have been on fire. It is ironic actually that the Twins have also been playing great baseball at the exact same time. Both teams were winners of four of their last five going into the series. Home field advantage matters to the Indians but they seem to be playing just a touch better than the Twins right now even though the teams have similar records over the last week.

They will probably struggle for the other two games in the series as well. That isn’t to say they won’t pull out a win or possibly even win the last two games of the series. If they do however it will be because of extraordinary effort by a starting pitcher or a career game for a position player. This series is a big one for the Twins but it will be a struggle for sure. If they pull out a win or two in the last two games they should feel like they won a playoff series.
