Will Adam Dunn Finish 2013 On the Chicago White Sox?

Barring a small miracle, the Chicago White Sox will most likely be sellers come this year’s trade deadline. Although the South Siders don’t have an abundance of appealing talent, they do have a few aging veterans that could draw interest from playoff-bound teams.

One of the older, but still productive players that the Sox could decide to trade to a competing team, is left-handed slugger Adam Dunn.

Before I go any further, yes, the argument can certainly be made that Dunn is anything but a productive hitter at this point in his career. It can also be said that most teams wouldn’t give up anything for a guy hitting just .184 with 85 strikeouts in just 66 games played. However, despite his dismal batting average and his inability to put the ball in play on a consistent basis, Dunn is still one of the games best home run hitters. His 19 dingers are good for second in the American League, and his 43 RBI are nothing to sneeze at either.

So, with Dunn still being somewhat attractive to buyers and the MLB trade deadline getting closer and closer, will the White Sox decide to pull the trigger and ship Dunn elsewhere?

If the deal is right, I don’t see why not. Dunn has just one year left on his contract after this season and with the Sox moving toward what feels like a rebuilding stage, now is the perfect time to cut ties with Dunn.

In my opinion, one or two mid-level prospects would be more than enough for the 33-year-old Dunn. Which team is willing to give up future talent for possible current success is still yet to be decided, but Adam Dunn’s forgettable stint on the South Side looks as if it’s about to come to an end.
