Oakland Athletics Look for Revenge vs Seattle Mariners

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics lead going into the Friday night baseball games was only one run. Some of that blame lies with the inability to beat the Texas Rangers one on one of course but some of it lies elsewhere. The Rangers were in a better position against the Athletics going into the series because of the A’s losing games to the bottom of the division Seattle Mariners the previous weekend. Every team is tough to play at this time of year but the A’s should have beaten the Mariners and they knew it. Now they are looking for some payback.

They find themselves in a weekend series with the Mariners for the second time in as many weeks. Last time the A’s didn’t play as well as they needed to and it not only cost them space against the Rangers but it also hurt their frame of mind going into the big Rangers series I believe. Starting with having Bartolo Colon on the mound Friday night, this series looks better on paper for sure.

No disrespect to the Mariners but the A’s have got to handle them if they are planning on sticking around in first place for a while. Credit certainly goes to the Rangers who made sure to draw closer to the Athletics in the series this week but the A’s need to ensure that they play better for the rest of the season and put some distance there.

The Rangers will get their momentum back eventually. If you are the Athletics you need to be as far in front of them as possible when that happens. The way they do that is by beating last place and next to last place teams like the Mariners. They probably want some revenge for their losses last weekend but ironically enough they need wins more than revenge right now. They surely hope to get both.
