Michael Cuddyer is Very Valuable to Success of the Colorado Rockies
Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez are usually the top two names you hear when you are looking at or watching the pregame for the Colorado Rockies. These two guys are the co-MVP’s of the team this season and most seasons while they have been healthy. Though they certainly deserve that recognition, there is another guy on the team that deserves it just as much. Michael Cuddyer has been huge for the Rockies this year and continues to come up big weekly.
Cuddyer has a .344 batting average, 13 homers and 45 RBI in under 60 games. Lately he has been batting on an even better clip than that. The point is that Cuddyer has been every bit as much as Walt Weiss and management hoped he would be this year. He’s been huge for the team during the struggle to find first place in the first half. I can bet you that whatever success they have in the second half will have just as much to do with Cuddyer as it will Tulo and CarGo.
If they get all three guys going and add in a healthy Dexter Fowler, they will run down whoever is in-between them and first place in the NL West. Someone said not long ago that the Rockies had been overrated when they were in first place but I don’t see it that way. I don’t think they are destined to sit in third place all year long or that they were never good enough for first. Actually I think with Cuddyer and teammates running at full speed ahead, anything but first should be viewed as a disappointment for these guys. They are that good and so is Cuddyer.
