With the end of July MLB Trade Deadline a few weeks away, the bigger deals are already beginning to happen. One team expected to be selling during that time is the Chicago White Sox. There were rumors about all kinds of people for the last month plus but two men in the bullpen are superb candidates for a strong trade before the deadline gets here. It seems to be a long ways away but these deals need to be done earlier rather than later.

Matt Lindstrom and Matt Thornton are the two that come quickly to mind after I read a rumor or two about them. I understand some White Sox fans might want to hang on to these two strong relievers but the big talent, big money teams are craving bullpen help right now. These two can bring a ton of talent coming back the White Sox’s direction if they play their cards right.

Lindstrom had an ERA of 0.82 during the month of June and is clearly one of the more attractive relievers out there right now. Not everyone is saying his name but oh boy they should be. He would be a huge addition to anyone’s pen down the stretch run. The same goes for Thornton who has only given up a few runs since the end of May.

Basically here is the deal. The White Sox should look to trade these guys first if they are going to call themselves sellers. If they are not going to trade these guys then they need to buckle down and not sell the rest of the team away either. They are just that valuable. Trading them away would bring a lot in return though and I would suggest dealing them sooner rather than later.
