In case you missed the news of the last week the Cleveland Indians made several more roster moves. I think they must have a time warp between Cleveland and the triple-A team so that they can just zap players back and forth at will. Hey, honestly who cares how many moves they make as long as they are good ones right? One such move this week was expected and it was good. They called up reliever C.C. Lee. You might think there is something familiar about this reliever’s name. Some might even think the Indians are trying to tap into their past with this move. The truth is that he is a good pitcher that can help the team.
For the record the C.C. stands for Chen-Chang Lee. Lee was on the very edge of coming to the majors last season but had to undergo, say it with me, Tommy John surgery and missed the rest of the season. This year his little scouting reports suggested a summer call-up and low and behold look what we have. Lee is a sinker pitcher that is not afraid to go after hitters. More than anything he should be someone that Terry Francona can bring in during almost any random situation.
That is until he gets his MLB feet wet and then they really should move him towards a role where they can throw him in to get specific outs with men on base. You know that a successful sinker baller gets lots of double-play balls right? That is what Lee should bring the Tribe if he is successful and all of the stats and records suggest that he should do just fine. Whether or not he will be the most famous C.C. or Lee that ever pitched for the Indians, he will certainly be the best C.C. Lee to be sure.
