Minnesota Twins are Right to Shake up Roster after First Half
Sometimes the leaders of a baseball team have to shake things up a bit. That is the case after the disappointing first half of the Minnesota Twins. Three players including outfielders Oswaldo Arcia, Chris Parmelee and infielder Edwardo Escobar have been sent to triple-A Rochester to work on their swings. The summation of it is that these young fellows are what the Twins plan their future around so they need to get their swings right.
That’s what they say anyway. I think they are telling the truth most of the way. The corresponding moves were to recall a catcher and purchase the contract of a utility infielder. That takes care of two of the three anyway but the team is quiet about the other move. They only say that it will be announced before Friday’s first game of the second half.
I think that reason is because the player they are calling up is going to be Chris Colabello from triple-A Rochester. The move would make sense from a personnel standpoint but also Colabello hasn’t exactly been struggling in the minors. He has a .356 average with 24 homers and 75 RBI through the first half. Considering the Twins sent two outfielders down to triple-A and Colabello has focused a great deal on playing the outfield this season, I think that takes care of who the call-up will be.
He is in his late twenties but appears to have possibly found his stride. Only a trial run at the major league level can say for sure but the Twins could use his bat at half of his triple-A production right now. I think that is one of the main reasons for the move, in which they will bring him up. I also think it is a great idea.
