One Player the Arizona Diamondbacks Need to Make World Series Run
One major problem the Arizona Diamondbacks have had in the first half of their season is a bad bullpen. Heath Bell has been one of the best closers in the game, but since coming to Arizona he has been terrible with an 8+ ERA. With J.J. Putz on the DL as well, the DBacks bullpen has been sub par this season.
They lead the league in blown wins by a bullpen and really need help if they want to make a run in the postseason. With Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs at the head of the rotation to go along with Wade Miley, they have quality starting pitching to win playoff games, but you can’t win if your bullpen can’t hold a lead.
Their offense has been productive all season with Paul Goldschmidt leading the way.
At the trade deadline they are going to need to go out and get a late inning reliever who they can count on. Francisco Rodriguez is the guy they need to acquire in order to make a run in the postseason.
K-Rod is having a great year so far for the Milwaukee Brewers who would be more than willing to get rid of him at the deadline. Rodriguez is mowing hitters down as he has a 1.25 ERA in 22 innings pitched so far.
With Rodriguez and Putz back, the DBacks can have three solid arms in the pen for the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. They must go after a reliever and Rodriguez seems like their best option.
