St. Louis Cardinals Continue to be Content with Current Roster
With all of the numerous and drastic trade rumors circling around Major League Baseball, there is something to be said for a team that simply is not having any of it. The St. Louis Cardinals have continually suggested that they aren’t looking to make any big move before the trade deadline. That doesn’t give the gossips any fat to chew but it sure makes the Cards look like a team that is confident and ready to fight the National League Central division crown.
We know their offense is capable as long as their pitching holds out and there is no reason to believe it won’t. Adam Wainwright should start the second half as one of the best pitchers in the game because he is. Shelby Miller is looking to be as dominant as ever with little tweaks and self confidence. Who really needs more players when the players you have fight to be the best they can be all the time.
Of course, that is a bit cliché. Most MLB players fight to be the best they can be. The problem is that most teams don’t have so many players whose best is actually among the best in the game. That has led to them dominating the central for most of the season. They are seemingly in for a fight from the Pittsburgh Pirates who are looking to improve their team but the Cardinals and rock solid manager Mike Matheny do not seem worried at all. Why should they be? They probably feel that someone will have to be the best team only by beating them. It’s a point that is hard to argue.
