Tampa Bay Rays’ Awesome Play Continues into Second Half
Who is the hottest team in baseball? The Tampa Bay Rays are the answer to lots of questions every year around this time but this year instead of having answers to questions about who they are trading away, they are the answer to this question. They are the hottest team in MLB without a doubt. It isn’t close. Their long winning streak snapped only to begin again with a two game streak before the break. They picked right up where they left off with a big win in the second half debut.
The Boston Red Sox look to have no intention of letting the hot Rays get any closer than 2.5 games out but the way the Rays are playing I’m not sure they really have anything to say about it. The Red Sox are not slumping, they’re playing great too. The Rays have just played that much better. The biggest problem with long winning streaks is that once they are over they tend to be replaced by a losing trend like the Toronto Blue Jays went through after their long winning streak.
That isn’t something that appears to be ready to happen with the Rays. Their ace David Price is looking just as good as he did during his Cy-Young winning season last year since he came back. Matt Moore has been one of the breakout stars of the game in the second section of the first half. The Rays offense is hitting on all cylinders. Many people including myself have speculated that this year will see a few big name Rays go elsewhere but this year it doesn’t appear likely. This year it seems they just plan to win the American League East and see how that works for them. Let’s watch and enjoy shall we?
