Los Angeles Angels Still Headed in Right Direction after Sunday Loss

Whether or not most would chose Bartolo Colon as one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball this season is irrelevant. The man has been amazing for the Oakland Athletics this year and no one knows that better after Sunday than the Los Angeles Angels. They had won the first two games of the second half’s opening series against the Athletics but were shutout by the hot handed Colon and the A’s on Sunday.

That is really okay. The Angels still won two of three from the division leading A’s and have a better standing in the division to show for it. Though the division might be too far from their grasp, it will not hurt them to win all the series they can win and see what happens. Stranger things have happened after all with two wildcard spots available now.

It is difficult to complain after winning two of three and heading to face a Minnesota Twins team that they should be able to have some good match-ups with. All in all the Angels should continue their slow turn towards winning baseball in the early going of the second half and the series win against the Athletics most certainly goes a long way towards proving it.

Though they are far from perfect, I get a different feeling about the Angels now than I got earlier in the season. They are gaining a confidence in themselves and their play that cannot be shaken by one day against a tough pitcher that also featured rough defense. They should bounce back strong this week against the Twins and continue to slowly march in the right direction.
