Miguel Cabrera Is Back In A Major Way

Miguel Cabrera returned to the lineup after missing four games due to a sore hip flexor and his return couldn’t be any more poetic, slamming a home run to left field on his very first swing back. The home run and smile is something Detroit Tigers fans have missed all week and while the Tigers have managed to figure out ways to piece victories together in his absence, there is nothing that can replace the best hitter in our generation.

The buzz, the excitement that each Miguel Cabrera at bat has is unique and takes you back to when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were involved in the home run chase years ago. You can’t miss a Miguel Cabrera at bat, and if you do, then you absolutely know you are going to miss something big. Tonight was just another incredible moment in a career filled with them. Cabrera didn’t even get to take part in batting practice today due to weather and there is nothing missed at all.

You get the feeling that Cabrera could bat in a wheelchair with his eyes closed and still hit a home run. It’s just not fair that a man can dominate a sport in the way Miguel Cabrera has in the sport of baseball. There is no such thing as needing time to catch back up to time missed, there is no such thing as needing to acclimate to game speed.

When Miguel Cabrera steps in that batters box, injuries don’t matter, he’s going to put on a show. No better show could be put on than the one he gave us in that first swing back. Any doubt of injuries slowing this behemoth went out of the building just like that with the baseball he hit. Miguel Cabrera is here to stay. His presence means the Tigers are here to stay.
