Detroit Tigers Need A Healthy Miguel Cabrera To Win the AL Central
The Detroit Tigers are a great baseball team, hence their 61-45 record. However, they need a healthy Miguel Cabrera to win the AL Central.
Cabrera is having another decent season, hitting .359, while knocking out 32 home runs and having 99 RBI. Yeah, there is nothing decent about those numbers. Cabrera is arguably the best hitter in baseball and he has taken his game to the next level these last two seasons.
He is clearly not the only good player on the team, but he definitely makes or breaks the Tigers. With that said, Detroit has not necessarily struggled with him out of the lineup and there is not a whole lot of data to base that off of since he is usually healthy.
As of late, he has suffered some minor injuries that have taken him out of the lineup. Luckily, these are just minor injuries, but hopefully they do not take a toll on the slugger.
Detroit is currently leading the AL Central by two games. It is great that it is on a five-game winning streak, but the Cleveland Indians–second place in the division–are on a pretty good steak as well, winning their last eight games.
At this rate, a loss for either team could mean a lot in the standings, but you would imagine that one is on the horizon because you cannot win every game in baseball.
There is no reason for Detroit to push the panic button or anything like that, but it needs a healthy Cabrera to not only win the division, but to make a run in the postseason. Winning a World Series would also be nice, but Cabrera and the rest of the Tigers will have to be on their game to do so.
