New York Mets’ Jordany Valdespin and Cesar Puello Can get Passed PEDs

Everyone has an opinion on the PED suspensions that Major League Baseball handed down on Monday but a few teams are in the group that was touched by the taint of PEDs this time around. One of those teams unfortunately is the New York Mets. Two minor league players Jordany Valdespin and Cesar Puello were suspended 50 games each for PED usage. These players have an advantage that others suspended might not in that they are minor leaguers and they are young.  They will be able to overcome this.

One thing that I believe more than anything about the PED scandals is that it should not completely define a player’s career. Even Alex Rodriguez deserves some credit for his natural ability. Sure the huge numbers for a while were inflated but the man is an amazing baseball player or was somewhere along the line. We should try not to forget that though with A-Rod it will be difficult.

With Valdespin and Puello that is not the case. They are both basically minor leaguers full time right now and even though this will have a small effect on their season and their status within the system, it should not taint their entire MLB careers once they fully make it to the big show. Overall it should be said by someone that two players caught using this stuff does not say a thing about the Mets organization.

They are a class act from top to bottom and will get through this without feeling the taint on themselves as well. Actually some good news for the Mets is that they very well might come out of this entire situation better than any other effected team in the majors.
