Miguel Cabrera 100 RBI for 10 Years Milestone is Extremely Significant
There are few Major League Baseball fans who do not know how good Miguel Cabrera is. He proved just how good he is once again recently when he surpassed the 100 RBI mark for the tenth consecutive season. That sounds good just by itself. The Detroit Tigers’ slugger is placing his name among the best players in the last decade at the very least. When you look closer at just how amazing that stat is however, it becomes clear that he is among the best ever.
He not only has achieved the 100 RBI mark for ten years in a row but has done so before passing the age of 30. Cabrera’s steady mark of excellence ranks right up there among the best to ever play the game of baseball. As a matter of fact the only other two players who have achieved this mark consecutively before passing 30 are Albert Pujols and Jimmie Foxx. With Pujols we begin to understand just how important health is to this stat and Cabrera has been healthy for the most part over the entire span or he wouldn’t have been able to do it.
That brings us to the best part about this stat. It doesn’t have an asterisk beside it. See, there is one more player that had ten 100 RBI seasons before the age of 31 and that was Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod’s years were not consecutive but it was impressive. With Cabrera however we have something to trust in that we do not have in A-Rod. Cabrera’s has been done clean. Sure, he is a strong guy but he is also a big guy. It is by accounts natural and that means more to the stat right now than anything else. With all luck Cabrera will remain healthy have put together ten more seasons just like the previous ten.
