Great Pitching Clinic on Display Again with Kansas City Royals

Ervin Santana

If you are a fan of great pitching then you need to hop a car, plan or whatever mode of transportation would best get you to the Kansas City Royals series against the Boston Red Sox. There are great pitchers showing up all weekend long beginning with last night’s contest between Bruce Chen and Jon Lester. Friday it will be Ervin Santana opposing Jake Peavy and the series end cap will feature John Lackey versus James Shields. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Some of the highest ERA’s on display all weekend will still be under 4. This is a big series for the Royals as they prove once again that they are much better than their record. Whatever the case with their offense, they are sending a loud and clear message of late that they are not going anywhere. They are not fading away and you bet they’ll do their best to barking down the door to the 2013 MLB Playoffs until they bust it down.

Chen was masterful and Santana is expected to be just as good. Obviously the Red Sox have some of the best pitchers in MLB. They did even before they added Peavy and it’s even better now. The Royals meanwhile added no one to their pitching staff and yet they are showing their strength. Royals’ fans that are watching Wil Myers show his great ability with the Tampa Bay Rays can at least take solace in the fact that their Royals team is displaying one of the best pitching staffs in the majors right now.
