When you own the most expensive car in the world, even the slightest scratch is going to absolutely freak you out.
Miguel Cabrera has had a slight scratch the past few weeks, and seemed to have aggravate it further on Tuesday night. The injury leaves the Detroit Tigers with a massive dilemma in how to handle the situation.
Yes, he could maybe play through it as he has at 60-70 percent and still be one of the best in the game, but he’d risk further injury like what happened last night. Do you decide to sit him down? If so, for how long?
The Tigers are still in a playoff chase so they don’t want to see their best player hit the DL, but it may be the only way the Tigers could have a healthy Cabrera for the playoffs. They will likely try benching him a few days like they did last time, but it just doesn’t seem like that way is going to work for Cabrera or the Tigers.
You know Miguel Cabrera would be willing to play today if his name is in the lineup, but seeing him run or wince after swings tells you that he needs an extended rest, no matter how much it hurts the Tigers in the short term.
Every Tigers fan will be holding their breath hoping that everything works out. Without Cabrera, the chances of winning a World Series are all but gone, so the Tigers need to look longer term rather than the next few days.
Cabrera just needs to go in the shop for a few days and before you know it, he will be back to running 100 mph in no time. Actually he won’t, but you get my point. The Tigers need Miguel Cabrera and they need him as healthy as he can be.
