Chicago White Sox have Chance to Finish Season in Style

The Chicago White Sox went from slightly disappointing going into the month of June to a full fledge fire sale by the end of July. Their chance at anything other than absolute last place seemed gone as did a few of their best players. Something funny has happened since that time however. It’s fairly well documented that they have played better since the MLB trade deadline at the end of July than they did all season before that. Their 14 – 10 August isn’t exactly a match for the month the Los Angeles Dodgers had but it is very respectable.

If there is a word that many probably figured no one would use to describe any part of the White Sox season it is respectable. Not only is it very possible that they can continue playing well and be respectable but they could also climb out of last place in the American League Central division. That might sound sarcastic but I am dead serious. What better way for a team that has been terrible all season to proclaim their talent for next season by putting someone else beneath them before season’s end?

They are only three games behind the Minnesota Twins for fourth place so it is a very real possibility. It appears that the moves they have made were actually as good for the immediate future of the ball-club. There have been smiles on faces in the dugout again and a positive atmosphere around the post game news conference. What a difference winning makes in the attitude around a baseball team.
