Miami Marlins’ Jose Fernandez Will do Well Against the Atlanta Braves
Even if Miami Marlins’ Jose Fernandez had not been as successful as he had been this season, he likely still would be a favorite to do well against the Atlanta Braves for the first time. Whether or not he would be favorite with official odds makers isn’t known of course but the fact of the matter is he should be favored especially considering that he has done well. Pitchers facing the Braves for the first time almost always pitch well against them and Fernandez should definitely do the same.
Whether or not doing well will equal a win will probably come down to how beat up the Braves are right now. The fact is that the Marlins always play the Braves tough. It was them after all that ended the Braves 14-game winning streak a little bit ago. Though many consider Yasiel Puig a favorite for Rookie of the Year, I think Fernandez should actually be the favorite. Some pitchers can still pitch well against the Cuban phenom but almost no one including Puig has been able to hit Fernandez.
Tonight the ability of the other Cuban phenom, Fernandez, should provide the zeroes on the board for the Braves while it will be up to the Marlins to give their rookie a win by scoring a run or two against the Braves great rookie Julio Teheran. I figure at the end of this night, just like at the end of the year, it will become clearer who the Rookie of the Year should be.
