Oakland Athletics on Fire Heading Into Huge Texas Rangers Series
Forget whatever the Oakland Athletics were doing last week or two or three weeks ago. None of that matters except that it helped them get to the point they stand at now. Having won six of seven games during this last week of August the A’s now will welcome the visiting Texas Rangers for the biggest series of the entire season. The Athletics just won three of four from the Detroit Tigers and swept the Tampa Bay Rays. I would say they seem ready to face the Rangers.
The season series is a losing one for the Athletics for now at 5 – 8. Again, that doesn’t matter right now because their awesome week as the A’s sitting only one game behind the Rangers. They are as hot as fire and you know are salivating at the idea of getting after the Rangers with first place in the American League West literally on the line. If the A’s win two of three they will still be tied. A sweep will get them a two-game lead.
Obviously hot streaks do come to an end from time to time and if the A’s lose two of three they’ll be very glad that they now have a hefty lead in the wildcard race. After all that has happened between these two teams this season, this is shaping up to be a great showdown. Every single chance the A’s wanted to have in order to overtake the Rangers once again is upon them. The rest is up to them. I for one will be glued to all three games.
