Danny Salazar Proving He is the Real Deal for Cleveland Indians

There are a few good vibes riding through the clubhouse of the Cleveland Indians this week in spite of their being out of the race for the American League Central division race. This is largely because the wildcard race is tightening up but there are a few other good things going on too. One of those really good things happening is the continued successful debut of starting pitcher Danny Salazar. He continues to prove that he is the real deal for the Tribe and will be for years to come.

Salazar’s latest star in the crown came with six shutout innings against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have easily been the bane of the Indians existence this season. No one the Indians threw out there could have beaten these guys. They could have had two pitchers throwing at the exact same time and the Tigers would still have found a way to win most of the games. For Salazar to shut this team down over six innings with a handful of hits and five strikeouts is huge for the Tribe.

Probably the best thing about this guy is his calm demeanor. You need a young pitcher like this to be someone who is solid when he has his good stuff and reliable to fight his heart out when his stuff is a little off. Looking at the starts he has made this year you can clearly see that he has this quality. There seems to be little or no chance to shake him but even when the time comes that Salazar doesn’t have the best stuff, he shows that he will still be tough to beat and should keep his head straight for one great season after another.
