Everything about the Chicago White Sox 2013 season has become about the final two months. They stunk it up for most of the year and sold off everyone and now are actually playing good. That has their fans looking towards next year for retribution over the terrible season that this has become. In the light of next season there will be a name on the lips of Sox fans everywhere and that name will be Erik Johnson.

Johnson is a left-handed starter that is making his MLB debut on Thursday night for the White Sox. He is the number two prospect in the Sox organization and his ability to make a lasting mark at the MLB level could mean the difference between an okay staff and a dominating one next season. Johnson has the potential to be every bit as good as Chris Sale is one day. He probably won’t be that good yet but with good experience this year he could prepare much better for early next season.

Since it is a big deal for the White Sox, it is pretty fitting that the kid gets his first start in the major leagues against the New York Yankees. They might not seem like much this year but they are as close to the MLB has to royalty. The Yankees are baseball for some areas of the country so why wouldn’t anyone love to debut against them? The fact that the Sox and Johnson can affect their standing in the wildcard race by beating them is just an added bonus. Watch this guy because like many others have said, he is going to be very good very soon.
