Baltimore Orioles are Poised for a Run at American League Wildcard

The Baltimore Orioles are good. They have been good for most of the 2013 season but have lacked the seeming final ingredients needed to make a solid run for the 2013 MLB Postseason. Their saving grace might be the second American League Wildcard spot as it might be for many teams. The Orioles have picked it up a little bit over the last few weeks, just in time to take advantage of a few losses by other teams. The result has them a short distance away from their coveted playoff spot and they are poised to make a run for it.

Their pitching has been pretty good and their offense has been pretty good as well. The big slugger Chris Davis is on a tiny homer slump but he is being picked up by others on the team. As has been the case for most of the season, the Orioles seem to underachieve just a little bit. They finally put a good streak of wins together by winning three of four from the Chicago White Sox, a team they should win a series against.

What remains for the Orioles is a fairly tough schedule. They will have to get through the New York Yankees who are right on their heels, the tough spoiler loving Toronto Blue Jays and the best team in MLB the Boston Red Sox before they get a straight chance at the Tampa Bay Rays. In short, they’ll have to win a lot of tough games to stay in the hunt, and then take their aim at the Rays or whoever owns the spot by that time. Who knows? If they play well enough against the other teams, it may in fact be them.
