Cleveland Indians Looking Much Better After Wins vs Orioles and Mets
After what seemed like the August of their nightmares passed, the Cleveland Indians amazingly find themselves not only still in the wildcard hunt at the end of the first full week of September, they are actually thriving, looking better and a tiny distance out of the wildcard spot they crave. Much has been made of the fact that the Indians have a slightly weaker schedule than some of the teams they are battling for the second wildcard spot. That supposedly weaker schedule included their fellow wildcard chasing Baltimore Orioles this past week and the Indians didn’t disappoint.
The Orioles might not be leading anything specifically but I doubt anyone would put them on the list of teams that are supposedly easier to beat. Actually they have been playing pretty well and are right there with the Indians. The Indians however won two of three from the Orioles, proving that they can win against tough teams right now too. That’s right, not only are they winning games, they are looking like a better team while doing it.
They also won two of three from the New York Mets which might have seemed a tad easier but that is okay because their next three series include two with the Kansas City Royals. Going into play Sunday the Indians were 1 game out of their wildcard spot and the Royals were only two back from them at 3 games out. To be sure the Royals will be looking to make a strong point when they play the Indians and trying also to overtake them in the wildcard race. How the Indians respond will once again show us what they are made of.
