Eric Hosmer and Kansas City Royals Too Hot to Count Out of Wildcard
The starting pitching of the Kansas City Royals has been ready and waiting for the offense to catch up for most of the season. This happens sometimes on a team with a great starting staff of course. Still, if they could pick a time for the bats to begin to provide a few runs for the staff, it would be right now. Well, guess what? Eric Hosmer is leading the charge and the Royals are doing just that. They are scoring crooked number runs for their starting pitchers. Wouldn’t you know it; they are starting to win more games.
In addition to the great bat that Hosmer is swinging lately, outfielder Lorenzo Cain is finally back in the starting line-up. Cain is a guy that makes the pitching staff better because of his defensive capability. He’ll do great in that role while he gets comfortable at the plate again. With the great play of Hosmer, when Cain gets going as well, this team could be dangerous for real.
They don’t need a ton of hitters slugging three homers each game to win. They honestly just need three to five runs each game and chances are they’ll reel off a load of wins in a row. For now they are still 3.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the final wildcard slot in the American League.
That number is larger because of the teams that are also between them and the spot but they can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time as they begin to play wildcard rivals more starting this week. This team is playing well. If they get Cain’s bat going along with Hosmer and a few others, watch this team rise.
