Even though the Cincinnati Reds are focused on this season, their 2014 season schedule was released today, and it’s an interesting one.
The Redlegs will open the 2014 season on March 31 when they host the St. Louis Cardinals, in fact, the Reds will take on the Cardinals in six of their first 10 games, so we might learn a lot about the team right off the bat, pun not intended.
Interleague play will begin on April 11 when the Tampa Bay Rays come to town. After that, there won’t be any interleague play until May 6, when the Reds go to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox for a two-game series, then on August 12, the Reds will host the Red Sox for a two-game series.
The Reds will also get a look at the New York Yankees in 2014 when they travel to the Bronx from July 18-20. So throughout the season, the Reds will get to play a lot of teams they usually don’t get to see. When looking at the schedule from April to August, it looks pretty interesting. At least, more interesting than usual.
But, the final month of the season looks pretty challenging, as they will play the Cardinals in seven of their final 19 games, and will host the Pittsburgh Pirates for the final three games of the regular season.
It’s obviously way too early to start making any predictions for the 2014 season, but it’s still fun to look at the schedule and see some of the highlights it has to offer.
