Los Angeles Dodgers’ Juan Uribe Should be Among Elite Third Basemen
For the most part the Los Angeles Dodgers seem to be about Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez. It is hard to blame everyone for focusing on those two players as they have performed extremely well this year. Obviously, no team can do what the Dodgers have done on the strength of just two players however. There are many other contributors for this team and one of the most underrated ones is Juan Uribe.
I am not saying that Uribe has always been one of the best players on this team. He clearly has had his problems producing consistently on the MLB level over the years but he does absolutely have ability. Ability does a lot to make a player look like they are underachieving if the player does nothing himself but when we see a window into the greater ability that the player has, we see what could be.
This was the case for Uribe and his recent breakout game where he had three homers. This isn’t his first big game of course, he has done this before. The smart way to say it would be that he really needs to spread those out over a few games. Honestly however, those are just the moments when everything falls together. If we look at his last ten games it doesn’t look that isolated as he has hit for a high average over that time.
Uribe doesn’t have to be one of the best third basemen in the game to do his part for the powerful Dodgers but he could be one of the top third basemen in the game with just a little more on the production level. We’ll see if he continues to step up towards the playoffs.
