Arizona Diamondbacks Rumors: Those Upset with Kirk Gibson are Wrong

Apparently there are those in Arizona Diamondbacks colors that are not exactly pleased with manager Kirk Gibson. Well what a shock. Imagine there being players and people blaming a manager when things don’t go the way they were supposed to go. I wonder if he was still doing things wrong when they were sitting in first place or did it just happen recently when they became clearly out of the playoff picture? I think we all know the answer to that.

Rumor has it that Kevin Towers doesn’t seem interested in replacing Gibson though some players appear to think more highly of Matt Williams. That is very interesting isn’t it? Unfortunately I have to agree with the big man on this one. His choice of Gibson to lead this team was a good one. Some managers are well liked and successful while others are well liked and not successful. The same can be said in any way but there are managers, well liked or not that are successful and unsuccessful all the same.

None of that should matter. Gibson did a good job this year and his team just barely missed the playoffs. Chances are if the Los Angeles Dodgers hadn’t of taken flight mid-season, they would still have a chance in the National League West. So some players don’t like some things he does; so what? That doesn’t mean his methods are not good methods. Give him a year or two and eventually, if there is zero success under his managing then he’ll need to go. As far Williams, he’ll be snatched up by another team with a week of the end of the playoffs at the latest.
