Cleveland Indians Have Magical Factor in Outfielder Matt Carson
They say that sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. That is the case in Major League Baseball as well as anywhere in the world. At the same time though it is always even better still to be lucky and good. It seems to be that the Cleveland Indians have found another factor to add to that scenario. It is best of all to have a magical factor going your way and that seems to be the case with journeyman outfielder Matt Carson.
It is very possible that most hadn’t heard of Carson before his September call-up to the Indians. Though he did play in one game at the end of August, he is still a September call-up. To that end he has been nothing short of great. His 7 for 9 hitting for the month was highlighted when he pounded the walk-off winner for the Indians in Thursday nights’ extremely important game versus the Houston Astros.
The thing is he isn’t even playing every day. He only has played in one complete game in which he went 3 for 4 and homered. There have been a few successful pinch-hit bids and a few defensive replacements. The numbers do not lie though and in this month Carson has played some role in 12 games for the Indians. They have won 11 of those games. I don’t know about you but if I were Terry Francona, I would make sure I put him in somewhere every night from here on in.
