What Place Will The Philadelphia Phillies Finish?

It is no secret that the Philadelphia Phillies are having a rough season. They have gone through star players on the disabled list and a big manger change. After the All-Star break it was known that the team would not be making a playoff run.

The question is what place are the Phillies going to finish in? They can either finish in third or fourth place in the National League East. Right now the Phillies are in third place, but the New York Mets are not far behind. The Mets are coming into Citizens Bank Park this weekend to close out the Phillies’ season at home. The Phillies should play with 100 percent effort as this is their last chance to show their fans they still care about the game and winning for them. If that happens it could give the Phillies a comfortable lead over the Mets.

Some fans, however, may want the Phillies to lose. The worse the Phillies finish, the better chance they have of getting a good draft pick. They do need to focus on rebuilding for the future, and a decent draft pick will certainty help with that.

This is the second season in a row that the Phillies are ending their season early, and it’s the second season in a row where they are leaving fans disappointed. Do people care where they finish? Probably not.

The Phillies are 15.5 games out of first place, the only place that matters, and they have a losing record of 71-81. Hopefully a year from now they will be playing for first or at least a playoff spot.
