Pittsburgh Pirates Rumors: Making A.J. Burnett Priority is Great Sign
After passing the 200 strikeout mark in his last outing against the Cincinnati Reds, A.J. Burnett has displayed not only that he can still be successful as a Major League Baseball player but that his pitching arm still has plenty of innings left in it. The Pittsburgh Pirates plan for all of the remaining MLB pitches in that arm to come from their mound. They want Burnett back as a Pirate and are not afraid to do everything they possibly can to make it happen.
This is such a great thing to see happen between a baseball team and player. So much in the game today is about money and value and other junk but even though Burnett has plenty of value to bring, this doesn’t seem to be about that. Burnett has said he wants to finish his career as a Pirates pitcher and they are saying they want that to happen as well but not this season.
What a great sign for this franchise and its players. They can take heart that if they play their best and perform up to their standard then the Pirates will do what they can to take care of them and keep a winning team intact. As they get ready for their first postseason appearance in a long time, the Pirates fans have to love the signs coming from the front office because they match the words the owners and GM have said. They want to win but are willing to do more than just talk about it. I think we’ll see more of Burnett in a Pirates uniform and more of the Pirates in the postseason in the near future.
