While the Cleveland Indians are fighting to hold on to a wildcard slot and entry into the MLB postseason, the Minnesota Twins are wondering what next year will hold. It must be easy enough for the Twins to fight the Indians every step of the way over these last few games since the Indians are in the final leg of a very tight wildcard playoff race that will go down to the final regular season game. The twins are doing more than respecting the game and fighting hard however, they are giving the Indians fits over the first couple of games.
While each of the three wildcard teams tries to win each of their final few games, the Twins plan to make it as difficult as they ever have for the Indians to sweep them. Looking at the way things have gone, you like the Twins chances to grab at least one win of the group since they are 6 – 10 on the season against the Tribe. It is fun to watch one team that technically has a playoff spot to lose fight a team that may be one or several years away from the same.
A tip of the cap should go to the Twins for playing their hearts out without their number one in Joe Mauer who continues to sit thanks to concussion symptoms that have lingered for over a month. As Mauer continues to be out of action the Twins have shown against the Tribe and others that they have more fight than possibly we all thought. Along with a lot of other things, the way the Twins are playing the Indians seems to give a positive lean towards the question of what next season will hold.
