Detroit Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera has been called everything from a superhero to a freakishly strong giant of a Major League Baseball player. Whatever various ways it has been said, Cabrera has made a name for himself as one of the top couple of power hitters in the game. That continued during the 2013 season where Cabrera threatened to complete his second consecutive triple crown season. However the final month of the season did not look like all of the other months.

Cabrera began to look positively human after he injured his legs and abs in various ways. It got to the point where during the last few weeks of the season some said the slugger had a few issues walking at all, much less playing third base and running the bases. Whether or not Cabrera did enough during the other months of the season to win the MVP award for 2013 is unknown but chances are that final month will hurt him.

He does have a chance to improve the way some look at his season overall by having a very good postseason. If he can heal between the regular season’s final game and the start of the Tigers postseason, it could serve to improve his MVP standing. The postseason does not count towards the award but even if it helps his team, himself and his fans feel better about the slumping final season, it would be a great turnaround for Cabrera.
